Trivia

The last two morning commutes, I have heard about the 75th anniversary of the book "Gone With the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell on NPR. I read the book and saw the movie during my high school years, as my mother encouraged me to read the book and see the movie.

Volunteer Fire Meetings

Monday night is volunteer fire meetings. I attended 2 meetings, tonight. The first was at the Allen Station, the annual strawberry shortcake feed. A community and social event with a bit of fund raising, too. This is my last year of a 6 year term of district fire commissioner. The district consists of the Allen, Edison and Samish Island stations.
Next meeting, time to wash the rigs at the Samish Island station in preparation for the 4th of July parade.

Baseball and Knitting

This evening is for baseball on the TV and sock knitting. I have a sock, that is close to completion.
Dad really enjoyed baseball, as long as I can remember. I took him to his first major league game in Seattle at the Kingdom. We went to some games at the Safeco field, too. About 15 years or so, we did go to a Seahawk game at the Kingdom, too. So, I hope Dad can still watch some baseball or at least I will watch some for him. Cause, I do like baseball, too.

New sock Book

I bought a new sock book, today. Just released by Ann Budd, it is beautiful. so many socks to knit, just want more knitting time.
I think I will try knitting and reading my Kindle at the same time. Susan lent me a stand for the Kindle, I can change the font size.

Baseball

Friday, I met Donna in Seattle for Seattle vs Philadelphia baseball game. Donna and I have gone to a few games for the several years. It was an exciting game, Seattle won 4 to 2. We had good seats behind home plate, slightly to the third base side on the field level. Donna and I knit at the games, except when it is too exciting. The peanut vendor, who tosses bags of peanuts across rows, asked if I would knit him a pair of socks. I just laughed, he did too. The guy next to Donna tried for a scarf, a hat and slippers for Donna to knit him. He was kind of entertaining, too.
I did buy myself a new Mariner hat for this year in honor of Dad. Dad had a collection of baseball style hats. I am not sure if he would have liked the background on the hat that looks likes argyle socks, but I do.

So, we meet for lunch and some knitting time, downtown Mount Vernon and a bonus contribution to the parking ticket fund of the City of Mount Vernon. Yes, I know, it is a 2 hour limit, oh well, write a $10. check and move on.

Hockey

The hockey series was back and forth. Boston won 3 games played in Boston, Vancouver won 3 games played in Vancouver. The series tied at 3-3, back to Vancouver for the final game and the Canucks lost. So, Boston took the Stanley Cup, last night.
