Another Milestone

Tonight at the community potluck, the volunteer fire department had their yearly presentation.
Kind of the year in review, plus honoring three retirees.  Tim, Sue and I are the retirees.  It was a nice program.

RIP B B King

B B King passed 5/14 at the age of 89.  This world has lost a great blues musician, but his music will live on.  I did see him in concert, last year.  So, glad that I did go to that concert.  Rest in Peace B B

Down Under Animals

My travels in Australia and New Zealand, included game reserve visits.  In New Zealand, I went to Penguin Place, there were yellow-eyed penguins.  We walked around the hillside, above the beach to different lookouts, where we were mostly hidden from the penguins behind a wooden structure.  You could stand, there and watch them through the opening in the structure, yet we were not invading into their space.  I saw several penguins!  The other portion was the re-hab/hospital for younger penguins, that were orphaned and needed a little care, before release back into their home area.  Our group leader was very passionate and knowledgeable about the penguins.
In Tasmania, Australia, I went to a game reserve at sunset.  The nocturnal animals were active, I saw a Tasmanian devil, wombat, brushtail opossum.  Most of these animals were in a rehabitat program and will be released into the wild.  Of course, there were kangaroos, wallabies and koalas.  Our group leader was very knowledgeable, explaining about the different animals.  I did pat the back of young wombat.
Near Sydney, we visited a game reserve and saw different birds, dingoes, kangaroos, wallabies and koalas.
