Hot Weather

The sunflowers are happy with the hot temperatures. The white flowers are candy tufts, that I planted seeds. They will reseed themselves. The metal spinners are Frank the frog and Sunny.
The wisteria is 6 inches taller than it's support post.
The honeysuckle is growing like crazy.

Spring 2008

Nicole and Meggen

A memory popped into my head, this morning. Spring vacation, 2008, Gary, myself, Meggen and Nicole were driving Nicole back home. I looked in my rear view mirror. Nicole was watching a DVD and had her arm around Meggen. It looked like Meggen was watching the DVD with Nicole. It was a cute sight.
It is hot, here. I bet it is really hot in eastern Washington.

Saturday evening

We were sitting outside, this evening. We can see the Nicole garden, from where we are sitting. We heard some thunder and it came closer. Now it is raining, a lovely, fresh, gentle rain. The air smells so wonderful. I hope it will rain long enough to soak the plants, trees, and grass.

Completed socks

Socks finished, this morning.
Bright and colorful socks for me.

Grass Fire

This afternoon, we (local volunteer fire department) were called to a brush fire. It is about 3:00 pm and most of our crew are working their day job. We had a group of 8 working the fire. It was in beach grass, driftwood, roots burning in the sand. The wind was blowing out to the water. I was working one hose line. No one was injured, no buildings were harmed. We put the fire out. About 75% of our calls are medical calls.

Garden

I did some weeding, yesterday.
Have a soaker hose set in the garden.
Took photos from a different angle, this morning.

There is a bike race.
When Meggen and I were out for a walk, we saw 3 riders on fancy bikes, matching bike outfits.
It doesn't look like a local ride.

Space Shuttle

We just came in, after watching the space shuttle soar across the sky. Gary and his ham radio friends keep current with times of the space shuttle events. It was bright in a not quite dark sky, fast, about 4 minutes to cross the sky. It is an awesome sight. The NASA web sight has information, too.

One more try for a photo

Nicole with a friendly chipmunk.

Friday

It is a nice sunny Friday. I woke up early, the birds were singing away.

Friday is the day for knitting at my friend and neighbor. so, we knit and talk, sometimes we are even quiet. Last Friday, I had the pleasure of meeting her granddaughter, Iris. Iris is 4, very sweet. She had a special treasure to tell and show me. It was a special moment.

I mentioned, that Meggen and I saw a deer early Tuesday morning. Susan and I talked about Nicole's love of animals.

I am going to Sock Summit in Portland, Oregon in August. I am getting excited. It is a big deal in the sock knitting world. I have a few classes to take. Probably some yarn to buy.

Somehow, blogger doesn't want to load photos, today. Have a great evening.

Thursday

This morning, I got up about 6:30 am, made coffee, then knit on my current sock project until 9:00. a great way to start the day. I teach sock knitting classes at local yarn shops. Today was the start of a new series of classes. I meet with 2 delightful ladies, and they are started on their sock projects. The day started cool, then warm and sunny after class. Got a few groceries. Chatted with my cousin on facebook, talked to another friend on the phone. Gary picked up a pizza for dinner. Now, back to sock knitting with the baseball game on TV. My kind of perfect day. How was your day?
Still waiting for contact with one prize winner.

Sky

A photo of the sky, taken last night, about a mile from our home.

Knitting Update

Completed pair of socks on June 30.
Sock started on July 1
I think I write a pattern for this pair of socks.

July 5

This is about a mile from our house.

Gary in his Seattle Mariners, Dan Wilson shirt.

On the evening of the 4th, we took Meggen for a walk.
She doesn't like all the noise of the fireworks.
She even took a sedative, then she slept in the closet.
Meggen is much happier with a quiet day, today.
