Sunny Sunday

It rained hard during the night, but we woke up to sunshine.

I finished a book, last night. It is called "Hannah's Dream" by Diane Hammond. Hannah is an elephant, who lives in a small zoo in western Washington. She doesn't have an elephant company, only her dedicated keeper, Sam. Sam's dream for Hannah is to live with other elephants. The story line is rich, the character development is excellent. I won't tell you the ending, but I did think Nicole would have enjoyed the book with her special love for animals.

I will be staying close to home, today. Household chores, paperwork, knitting, relaxing with a spring training baseball game on TV.

A tease of spring

Looks like one of spring days with some warmth in the air.
So, you just gotta get outside for some running in the backyard.

I am ready for some weather like that.
Still cool, overcast, light rain, now.

Spring Outfit

Spring in 1999
-
Nicole in a new outfit.
-
On my commute, I have seen the baby lambs and goats.
Nicole loved all animals.
Spring of 2007, Nicole and I witnessed the birth of an alpaca.
It was a great event, and Nicole wanted to see the new baby girl alpaca take her first few steps.
We were watching in the pasture as she took her first steps, very wobbly at first.
In about an hour, she took several stronger steps.
-
I drove by this alpaca farm, Wednesday.
Didn't spot any tiny ones.
-
Nicole liked to visit farm animals and zoos.
She visited the Portland and Seattle zoos, several times.
Last spring break, Nicole and I went to the zoo in Seattle.
We also went to the alpaca farm.
-

Knitting Retreat

Emu
-
I have returned from a knitting retreat.
It is held at Camp Brotherhood, about 45 minutes from home.
The property includes a working farm with animals.
-
The Camp hosts many different groups during the year.
This weekend's groups were soccer players, a men's church group and us, knitters.
There are different cabins, dorm type rooms, lodges spread over the property.
All the groups, use the same dining room, with meal times over lapping.
-
I have been attending the knitting retreat, since 2004.
It has knitting, social and learning times.
It is a great weekend.

Facial Expressions

Anxiety
-
I have posted a few pictures with lots of expressions.
Nicole looks anxious to me.
I would be anxious, too considering the background is ChuckE Cheese.
My only experience was in Anchorage, AK about1985.
I would say lousy pizza, loud surroundings.
-
She does look cute, twirling her hair with her fingers.
Gotta love that.

Grand Canyon

Late December, 2008, Jeff and Julie went for a helicopter ride over the western part of the Grand Canyon.

Looks like it was a champagne flight.
I knew the tradition for hot air balloon flights ending with champagne.
Looks like it is the tradition for Grand Canyon helicopter flights.
-
A couple years ago, Nicole would have said "yuck" about the kiss.
-
Last fall, Julie found a folded piece of paper with a note written by Nicole, describing her first kiss in June of 2008. She had hidden the note between her mattress and box springs.
It was a cute little note.
